Sika
Kaspar Winkler was driven by his entrepreneurial spirit when he laid the cornerstone of the company in 1910. He invented Sika-1, a quick-setting waterproofing admixture for mortar, which was used to waterproof the Gotthard Tunnel. Already in the 1930s, 15 Sika subsidiaries in Europe, USA, Argentina, Brazil and Japan established new construction chemicals markets. With the versatile adhesive Sikaflex, Sika opened up new fields of business in the 1980s and diverged from its traditional construction chemistry path. Since 2000, Sika summarizes its core competencies in bonding, sealing, damping, reinforcing and protecting. Since 2015 Sika made 25 acquisitions, opened 11 new national subsidies and 44 new plants. Innovation is one of the pillars of the Sika growth strategy with 425 new patents were filled and 21 Global Technology Centers are maintained throughout the world.
