The 3M Scotch-Brite Cleaning & Finishing Discs combine flexibility with effective cutting action to complete difficult cleaning tasks or have positive finishing results after each use. Very fine aluminum oxide abrasives that cut quickly and accurately, creating a smooth and polished surface. They are suitable for use on a wide variety of surfaces and many different applications. The performance of the discs is comparable to that of Category 1 steel wool. However, unlike steel wool, Scotch-Brite™ does not crumble during use, does not rust after use and does not form fine metal fragments. The nonwoven, open web material is load-bearing and can be used dry, with water or solvents and rinsed for reuse. This flexible Scotch-Brite™ 6 x 9 surface can be used for even cleaning and finishing. Scotch-Brite 7613 and 7614 discs use aluminum oxide abrasive. Aluminum oxide is often preferred by industry experts due to its high cutting speed and long service life. Aluminum oxide is suitable for many different materials, both wood and metalworking applications, including ferrous alloys. The Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives are unique surface abrasives attached to nonwoven nylon or other synthetic fibers. The combination of abrasives with fibers creates an abrasive system that offers consistent results throughout the life of the product. The open mesh material is durable over time and provides a high-performance cut.
